Ashburton judicial inquiries
Felix Newfield was suspended until after January 2 for allegedly causing interference in the Australian Airlines-Air New Zealand Pace at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting Newfield, driving La Chandelle, was observed to have tightened Mighty Cute onto Willowdale Lad with 350 m to run. Newfield has subsequently lodged a review of penalty against the decision.
Inky Lord was examined by the Club’s veterinaray surgeon before the National Mutual Finance Champion Stakes after he had put his nearhind leg through a rail.
The examination showed superficial skin damage and a further examination carried out during the preliminary showed no sign of lameness and he was consequently given a clearance to start. Oroua was stood down until trialing twice for breaking in the Elders Pastoral Pace, while Star Rebel was removed from the unruly position.
Robin Butt was informed an improvement in Wood Chip’s barrier manners was expected after the Robillards Jewellers Pace.
