Truck gutted by fire
A truck was gutted by fire about 3.25 p.m. in Link Road near the Main North Road yesterday. The truck’s gearbox had been smoking as it headed along Link Road and the driver had stopped to wait until the smoke cleared. He drove into a yard, left the truck, and turned to find the truck on fire. The Brooklands Volunteer Fire Brigade went to the fire with water tankers. A St Albans appliance also went but was not required. The fire spread to sawdust near the truck but was quickly controlled.
