Carols by candlelight
The Christchurch Y.M.C.A. will hold its “Carols by Candlelight” in the new Victoria Square amphitheatre on Friday. The singing will be conducted by Mr Francis Dennis, with music by the Salvation Army Citadel Band. It will run from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The executive director of the Y.M.C.A., Mr Terry Hill, said the singing was a traditional event which seemed to be retaining its popularity. A record number of people attended last year.
Seven Christian churches in Burwood have combined to organise carol singing sessions in Clare Park at 7.30 p.m. this evening. The St Albans Salvation Army Band will provide the music for the hour-long programme. People are asked to bring a rug or chair to sit on at Clare Park. After the carol singing a supper will be available at St Paul’s Lutheran Church across Burwood Road.
