Bus to the City for Christmas Shopping

Transport need not be a problem when you shop in the city. The Christchurch Transport Board operates 26 bus routes, so whichever suburb you live in, there is a CTB bus route near you. And every day, the Big Reds travel right to the centre of the city.

Leave your car at home and bus into the city for Christmas shopping, you won’t have the problem of finding a park and you will save on parking fees, (and fines!).

If you do your shopping between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. weekdays, or after 6.00 p.m. on the late shopping nights, or on Saturdays, and you will enjoy

the benefits of off-peak fares, when an adult travels for a child’s fare.

On the late shopping nights in the week prior to Christmas — Wednesday, December 21 and Friday, December 23 — the transport Board will be operating a Friday timetable, taking passengers to the city for last minute shopping. Friday night bus services will resume for the New Year on January 6, 1989, in line with city trading hours.

Passengers requiring information on timetable, bus routes, fares, etc should phone the Board’s information line, 794-600.
