Telecom pay rise
Telecom workers have received a 4 per cent wage increase for a 10-month period, with a top-up of 1.5 per cent from September 10 next year running through to April 1, 1990. The increase has been backdated to November 10. About 19,500 workers will receive the increase. The Post Office Union’s general secretary, Graham Needham, said the next round of talks would begin in January, 1990. He said this would avoid squeezing in talks at the end of the year.—PA.
