Undelivered mail found in backyard

PA Auckland A mail delivery woman has been suspended by New Zealand Post after bundles of unopened mail were found in her Mt Roskill backyard. A senior staff member of the organisation has personally delivered every letter and small parcel to residents, of the borough. Letters of apology accompanied each item, explaining the delay as an “internal security problem.”

The district manager for N.Z. Post in Auckland Central, Mr Trevor MacLachlan, said the matter had been referred to the police. He said the teenaged woman would remain suspended without pay until he received a report about the incident. “We first heard several weeks ago, through odd complaints made from residents in the Mt Roskill area, that items of mail they were expecting had not arrived.”
