Gallagher wins award
The All Black fullback, John Gallagher, has been named the New Zealand Police “sportsperson of the year.” Gallagher, a constable in Wellington, was the highest try scorer, with 12 on this year’s tour of Australia, and was the runner-up to Grant Fox in the “rugby player of the year” competition. He won the police award ahead of two top Christchurch triathletes — Constables Jim Bedwell and Greg Luxton.
