Slick trial from Our Maestro

NZPA-AAP Sydney The top Victorian five-year-old, Our Maestro, ruling favourite for Friday’s sAust2so,ooo Commodore Miracle Mile at Harold Park, left little doubt about his sprint credentials with a rousing track trial at Bankstown on Monday. Our Maestro, having his first serious workout since returning from New Zealand last week, was untroubled to reel off a final 800 m in 58sec after coming from a conspicuous last to win the trial by 20 metres.

Reinsman, Vin Knight, was delighted with the reigning Inter-Dominion champion’s workout. “I gave him a couple of easy days so he could get over the flight from New Zealand and I wasn’t out to run time in the trial,” Knight said.
