Unemployment

Sir, —If Richard Prebble’s reaction to losing half his job is any indication of the amount of raw passion involved, multiply that by 150,000-plus and we must have some pretty high feelings running out there in our society. Do unto others is all very well until you are on the receiving end. There has been more drama watching his performance than in “Dallas” and “Dynasty” put together. I wonder how long it will be before the balloon goes up and all those people who have lost their jobs (many of them businesses and farmers) really give vent to their feelings the way he has, or do Parliamentarians think the people out there have none? — Yours, etc., A. MAYER. November 19,1988.
