Flight of fancy for a Lotto winner

By DAVE WILSON It’s the kind of world tour only Lotto winners can seriously contemplate — a big Lockheed airliner converted into all first-class configuration for just 86 passengers. Those with bank balances capable of handling such expense doubtless expect to have their passports stamped with some exotic destinations — Rio, Tahiti, Bali, Hong Kong, China, India, the Seychelles, Kenya, Nice ... and Christchurch.

On Friday afternoon the luxury tour will touch down in New Zealand with the wealthy tourists spending the night in Christchurch before dashing off next

morning to Queenstown.

The luxury Lockheed airliner belongs to an American tour company, Hemphill Harris. Anne Ryan, of the Tour Company of Christchurch, the company’s local agent, says most of the visitors’ stopover in New Zealand will be in and around the Queenstown area. While the visitors’ glimpse of Christchurch will be little more than a glimpse, they will have an opportunity to meet some local people and taste Kiwi domesticity. Friday evening’s meals will be at various Christchurch homes where the tourists will be the guests of residents.
