Motorist stabbed after stopping
A man was stabbed after he stopped his car. believing a Ministry of Transport car was following him. The man was driving on Hammersley Avenue about 11 p.m. on Wednesday when he heard a siren from the car behind him. He pulled over, believing it was an unmarked Ministry of Transport car but when he stepped out of his vehicle he was attacked by the three occupants of the other car. During the scuffle he suffered a minor stab wound to the side. Two men were helping the police with inquiries yesterday afternoon and a third man was still being sought by the police. Detective Sergeant Kieren Kortegast said the victim knew his attackers. “But obviously we don't want other people stopped in this way,” he said. The victim was treated at Christchurch Hopsital for the stab wound and a cut above an eye, and discharged.
