Feelings mixed in Kaikoura
Kaikoura County was “very happy” at the announcement it would remain intact and autonomous, said its chairman, Mr Percy Acton-Adams. Apart from the Conway catchment which has become part of the North Canterbury district the county’s area remains unchanged. The county was disappointed it had been placed in the Marlborough province in spite of its voting in favour of joining Canterbury. Opinions were still divided among residents, however, on which was the better option, said Mr Acton-Adams.
