McGettigan arrives at Ellesmere
McGettigan, a well-per-formed son of One Pound Sterling, has arrived in Canterbury and will be standing at Kevin Chapman’s Roschana Farm at Ellesmere this season. McGettigan won 12 races, three of them at two years, and was Group placed at that age. McGettigan, a brother to One Guinea, winner of the Q.T.C. Castlemaine Stakes (Group One), and to the Stakes-placed, Marie Rose, is the third son of
One Pound Sterling to go to stud, the others being McGinty and Ironclad. One Pound Sterling the third best two-year-old in Canada in 1974 and equalbest sprinter in that country in 1977, won 21 races. McGettigan’s dam, Sugar Pie, by the Crepello stallion, Sugar Apple, is a half-sister to Lunar Probe the second topweight in the 1976-77 Two-Year-Old Free Handicap in New Zealand. McGettigan’s fee is $lOOO reducing to $B5O for two mares and $7OO for three or more mares. Patrons of the stallion may choose to pay $5OO on positive test and the balance when the foal is born.
