Woodville Special correspondent Woodville Bolshoi Star emphasised her fitness for tomorrow’s Lowland Stakes with a strong gallop at Woodville yesterday. Her race rival, Kate’s Myth, did not go as fast, but also looks likely to be at her peak. There are other formidable fillies in the race, but it would be no surprise if these two took the quinella. In which order is anybody’s guess. Heavy rain on Wednesday and overnight left plenty of surface water and the No. 1 grass was a quagmire. Bolshoi Star was travelling well to shade Corkage over 1000 m in 1:6.6, the last 600 m in 38.3. This was a good time in the conditions. Kate's Myth and a promising maiden, Iced Court, ran 1000 m in 1:8.1, the last 600 m in 40. Kate’s Myth worked keenly and like Bolshoi Star looks to have thrived since running in the Cavanagh Stakes. Festal and Sir Nova went

800 m in 55.4, the last 600 m in 40.6. Festal has developed well since last racing, and won at the Masterton trials last Sunday. He should go well in the Solway Park Members Handicap tomorrow. Larry Cassidy has the mount. Sir Nova contests the Commissaris Maiden with the same rider. The Phantom and Miss Stanima ran an easy 1200 m, taking 1:13.2 for the last 1000 m and 42.5 for the 600 m. The Phantom is one of the top chances in the Owners and Trainers’ Handicap, while Miss Stanima showed she is close to racing trim by running second at the Masterton trials. Spot of Gold ran 800 m in 55.3, the last 600 m in 40. The recent Blenheim winner is in the Solway Park Handicap with Jim Walker the rider. Go Bush galloped 1000 m in 1:9, the last 600 m in 42. He is preparing for next Tuesday’s Matamata Cup. Ngawi Bay, which may resume at the local meeting next week, ran his last 600 m in 45.7.
