R.U. Red. Eh?
Sir, —I, too, have been puzzling over these strange incantations and have developed several theories as to their meaning. (1) Sun lotion commercial — "Are you redder?” (2) Conservationists’ song — “Are you rare, deer?” (3) Self-identifi-cation by a journalist — “R.U. Radduh, for The Tarmarvyer Laugh.” (4) Propaganda song by Korean students — “Seoul riots, Seoul Rah-ha-ha!” (5) Insomniacs’ Anonymous theme — “Is a bed a place for us to be?” But, the most credible theory is that it is just what it claims to be: A rare dare (by one T.V.N.Z. technician to another to turn off three million viewers at once with just one song).—Yours, etc., D. D. SANDERSON. October 3, 1988. [This correspondence is closed.]
