Motorists stranded
PA Invercargill The Milford Sound-Te Anau road was reopened yesterday, much to the relief of 200 people who were forced to stay at Milford Sound on Tuesday night. The road had been closed because of heavy rain and warm tempera-
tures, which caused a high avalanche risk. The southern regional manager of the Tourist Hotel Corporation, Mr Bill Neilsen, said the 200 people stranded at Milford Sound were looked after at the T.H.C. Hotel. The hotel was coping with a 365 per cent occupancy rate, he said.
