Vegetarian Day

World Vegetarian Day will be celebrated in Christchurch on Saturday. The annual international celebrations also mark the birthday of St Francis, the patron saint of animals. A variety of activities have been planned by the Christchurch Vegetarian Society to mark the occasion, although they will

not be held on the day. A food stall will be held in Cathedral Square on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A book, posters, and leaflet display will be held at the Canterbury Public Library. A vegetarian banquet is also planned for members of the society, although a date has not yet been set.
