U.S. wins golf title
NZPA-Reuter Stockholm The United States won the women’s world amateur team golf title by one shot from Sweden yesterday. Sweden rubbed out the American six-shot overnight lead after 12 holes and the two teams were level until Helene Andersson bogeyed the seventeenth hole, allowing the Americans to win 587 strokes to 588. Britain and Ireland finished on 600 for third place place while Italy at 603 shared fourth place with Switzerland and Japan. New Zealand shared ninth place with France on 613, Jan Cooke and Liz Douglas having final round scores of 77.
