Two Canterbury Museum executives plan to visit Wellington to seek Government funds to boost the flagging museum restoration appeal. Museum Trust Board members decided at a meeting yesterday that the museum’s director, Mr Michael Trotter, and the chairman of the board, Mr Pat Marriner, should go to Wellington to seek funds from the Historic Places Trust and the
Minister of Internal Affairs, Dr Bassett. In a report to the board, the appeal programme organiser, Mr Jim Hay, said the appeal had almost come to a halt except for about four or five possible large gifts which could put the total raised past $1.5 million. The appeal total now is $1,358,154. The board also decided to investigate the possibility of getting funds from the Metropolitan Grants Committee.
Dinosaur The Museum’s Allosaurus dinosaur skeleton will be on display at the Northlands Shopping Mall from August 15 to September 24. The museum plans to sell leaflets and plastic models while the dinosaur, ' which was assembled by the display preparator, Mr Gary Sutton, is on display at the mall. The money raised will go towards the restoration appeal.
