Fijiam Urica
The University of the South Pacific has Signed an agreement with AWA Computers (New Zealand) to buy the Urica library management system. The university at Suva, in Fiji, is a joint venture by 11 States in the region. Once the central data base is established the university librarian, Esther Williams, would like to establish a computer communications system with the university’s branch library in Apia, and eventually a network with eight other libraries in the South Pacific region. On-site computer training will start in September with staff from AWA Computers in New Zealand. Cataloguing and data conversion is expected to begin in February, 1989.
