Lineman electrocuted
PA Wanganui
Electrification of the main trunk railway line has claimed its first victim. A Railway Corporation trainee traction lineman, Mr Bill Lawrence, is in Wanganui Base Hospital after receiving a severe electric shock near Tangiwai.
Mr Lawrence is said to be making good progress. Senior railways officials are investigating the accident.
