Rugby league runners at Addington
Fourteen Canterbury rugby league clubs will be represented by runners in sprints to be run between totalisator events at Addington Raceway on Friday evening. One of the footballers, Vaughan Low (Hornby), should be in reasonably familiar surroundings. Low, who has played for Canterbury as a wing, is the son of a former wellknown jockey, Eddie Low. Two heats over 110 m will precede the final. The club represented by the winning finalist is to receive a full set of jerseys from Canterbury Apparel and Footwear, Ltd. Each heat winner and the first three placegetters in the final receive vouchers from Allied Liquor Merchants. Runners chosen by their clubs are.— Heat 1: Tony Taase (Sydenham), Vaughan' Low (Hornby), Walter Wilson (Halswell), Kevin Hapi (Addington), Gary Nicholas (Eastern), Noro Fa’afo’i (Woolston), Phil Wildermoth (Marist-West-ern). Heat 2: Peter Keith (Riccarton), Ken David (Parklands), Julian Colombus (Linwood), Kerry Pearce (Papanui), Paul Whakatihi (Kaiapoi), Trevor Cook (St Albans), Simon Pulley (Rangiora).
