William Young fastest

William Young, a three-year-old half-brother to Just A Bachelor (1:58.4) in Robert Asquith’s Oxford team, was the fastest of five pacing qualifiers over 2400 m at the Rangiora trials yesterday. Lobell from Nancy Lyn (a member of the Night Beam branch of the Horotane family) in Murray Butt’s Templeton tea, took out the pacers’ mobile qualifying heat over 2600 m in 3:27.5, beating Santos (4g Farr HanoverGay Tinge), which also qualified returning 3:27.7.
