Alert man solves crime
PA Wanganui Wanganui police say an alert member of the public played cops and robbers on Saturday evening to eventually deliver the driver of a stolen vehicle to the local police station. Senior-Sergeant Nigel Mcßae said the incident began about 9 p.m. when the “very, very alert” member of the public noticed that the driver of a passing truck looked suspiciously young. He followed the truck and eventually waved it down. The youth admitted he had stolen the truck, which was the property of Harvey Farms, Ltd. The first the police knew of it was when the man turned up at the police station with the truck’s keys in one hand and the. youth in the other. Senior-Sergeant Mcßae said the police were grateful for the actions of the man. The youth, aged 14, will appear in the Children and Young Persons Court today, charged with unlawfully taking the truck.
