Information 'dries up'
PA Hamilton Information on the missing Taupo man, Milton Channing, has dried up, according to the officer in charge of the case, Detective Graeme Cushing. Mr Channing, aged 23, a roofer, drove out of Taupo on New Year’s Eve heading for a week-end with friends at Whangamata but never reached his destination.
In spite of concentrated ground and air searches by friends, [a police investigation and a reward offered by [ friends, there has been [no confirmed
sighting of him. Three days after he was last seen, his Holden utility was seen by two hunters in the Mokai forest, 40km north of Taupo, but since then information has tapered off. Mr Cushing said the police had “run out of possibilities, ideas and information” in the last six weeks.
However, a special notice including Mr Channing’s photograph has been posted to all police stations and the case is being considered for a spot on television’s "Crimewatch” programme later this month.
