College side wins

The Lincoln College rugby team won the penultimate match of its Japanese tour by prevailing, 15-7, in a tough encounter against the Nissan Steel Company XV in Yamaguchi.

The College side played spirited rugby in the first half to lead 12-7 at the break, but lost its way a little in the last 40min, dropping vital passes at critical times. . However, Rob Pound kicked well

for goal, and gave his side the edge against a team of strong scrumma!gers and nimble defenders. Dave Porter, in the forwards, and Paul Schuler, in the backs, were notable performers for Lincoln.

Schuler and lan Fleming scored tries, and Pound converted both and kicked a penalty goal. The touring side’s last match will be against Meiji University, in Shizouka.
