Poelman motivated

PA Auckland Memories of last year’s all-but world record in the one hour decathlon have Simon Poelman highly motivated for today’s match against the American Tim Bright in Auckland. In the second meeting of the Mita Copier-sponsored international track and field series, Poelman and Bright will cram two days worth of competition into just 60 minutes. Last year, Poelman totalled 7482 points to win the event from the Frenchman Christian Plaziat by more than 500 points. The mark was well over the one hour world record of 7306 held by the Austrian George Werther, but because the event took slightly more than an hour — Plaziat was late for the start of the final' 1500 m — it was not recognised.
