Skipper keen to play

NZPA-AAP Brisbane The test skipper, Wally Lewis, is seriously considering a reserve role for the Brisbane Broncos rugby league clash with a New Zealand president’s XIII side at Lang Park on Saturday evening. Lewis said yesterday he was “very surprised” at a newspaper report suggesting he would miss the trial against Tony Gordon’s Kiwis. “There’s still a chance I’ll play,” he said. “Nothing definite has been decided yet.” Lewis has made tremendous progress since undergoing minor knee surgery last month but he desperately wants a hit-out before the Broncos’ opening Winfield premiership clash with Manly on March 6.
