All Blacks to tour Ireland?
NZPA London The All Blacks have been invited to tour Wales and Ireland next year. The secretary of the Irish Rugby Union, Mr Patrick Moss said the two unions had invited the N.Z.R.F.U. to send a team on a 13-match tour in October-November, 1989. They were awaiting acceptance from New Zealand.
The Rugby World Cup winners last toured both countries during the 1978 grand slam tour, winning both internationals, but losing their only match against Irish provincial side, Munster, 12-0. New Zealand has not played Ireland.since, but beat Wales in Cardiff in 1980, and again in the World Cup semifinal at Brisbane, when it won 49-6.
