M.E.D. gear overheats

Several people were moved from houses in Farrington Avenue last evening because of concern that an overheating M.E.D. transformer might explode. A passer-by told the Fire Service about 10 p.m. that the transformer between Eastling Street and Kilburn Avenue appeared to be very hot.

Residents were out of their houses for about 30 minutes before the power was switched off
