Intense flash a meteorite
PA Wellington A meteorite put on such a spectacular display over central New Zealand early yesterday that two ships reported possible distress flare sightings. A “very intense flash” was seen from Lower Hutt above the hills behind Waterloo Station about 3.50 a.m. The meteorite was thought to have hit the sea off the east coast of the North Island.
