Schoolboy cricketers named
Two Canterbury schoolboy cricket teams to play in the South Island under 16 tournament in Nelson from January 25 to 29 have been named. They are:
Canterbury Red. — Gary Stead (captain), Jonathan Hearn, Kyle Marshall (Shirley 8.H.5.); Blair Davis, Peter Harrison, Vaughan Hartland, Michael Schupbach, Stuart Sutherland (Christchurch 8.H.5.); David Dick (St Andrew’s); Charles Fairburn (Christ College); Allan Hickford (Burnside H.S.); Glenn Hurley (St Bede’s).
Canterbury Black.— Glenn Muir (captain, St Thomas’); Robert Allison, Adrian Ferris (St Bede’s); Geoff Allott, Lome Howell (Christchurch 8.H.5.); Stephen Fleming (Cashmere H.S.); Mark Forman (Middleton Grange); Mark Gibson (Riccarton H.S.); Tim Grocott (Shirley 8.H.5.); Andrew Hopping, Geoff Troughton (St Andrew’s); Daniel Grafton (Papanui H.S.). Manager: Mr M. Cribb (Cashmere H.S.). Coaches: Greg Hills and Keith Gardener (Canta Cricket).
A team to play Pulteney Grammar School from Adelaide at Papanui High School today has also been chosen. It is:
Todd Barberel, Cameron Blain, David Culpan, Jason Fahey, Jason Kyle (Christchurch 8.H.5.); Craig Dyer (Mairehau H.S.); Brian Easton, Mark Gibson (Riccarton H.S.); Michael Keen (St Bede’s); Simon Packman (Burnside H.S.); Robert Tibbets (Hillmorton H.S.).
