Boon wins award
NZPA Melbourne The Australian opener, David Boon, has won the International Cricketer of the Year award for his performances in the test and one-day series. The chunky Tasmanian is the third Australian player to win the award since it was initiated in 1979-80, the others being Dennis Lillee and Bruce Yardley. His prize is a Nissan Skyline car, valued at sAust2s,ooo. The award is based on performances in the three-test series against New Zealand, and the preliminary World Series Cup competition.
