Superannuation

Sir,—ln general, those who have paid taxes all their working lives have contributed to a fund-, by way of taxes, that should take care of their monetary needs on retirement. Under our old democracy the rules used to apply to superannuation and pensions. It is a shame that those who need are in danger of losing what is rightfully theirs, at the hands of those who do not need. No doubt the Prime Minister and his Cabinet are behind Mr Douglas in this latest attack. Are they all bent on changing trust for tyranny? Mr R. Marshall (Hansard) says “We should not govern by public opinion.” Mr T. De Cleene (Hansard) says “I could not give a ... what they do.” Mr Moore wants a statue erected for a communist. The Minister of Justice sings “The Red Flag.” We kiwis should wake up for the red, white and blue and not freeze to death, with feathers gone, too. —Yours, etc., TONY LE CREN. January 19, 1988.
