Fast run from Lucatreze
Special correspondent Hastings Lucatreze turned in a fast solo 600 metres at the Hastings track yesterday morning, suggesting he could show up among the maiden gallopers at tomorrow’s Poverty Bay meeting. Fast work was carried out on the plough and No. 1 grass, both tracks providing firm footing. Lucatreze (Liley) cut out 600 metres in 37.15, the equal fastest of the morning, and was doing his work well at the finish. He lines up in the fourth race at Gisborne Middleman (Howard), preparing for the 1600metre highweight at Gisborne, also clocked 37.1 s when running 600 metres with Harlem Shuffle (Frethey). Nalora (Phillips), preparing for Monday’s Manawatu meeting, was not pushed when running 800 metres in 53.25, the last 600 in 39.85. Master Tudor t (Liley), preparing for the^,second
day of the Poverty Bay meeting, next Wednesday, was also let off with an easy workout, running 800 metres in 50s, the last 600 in 42.55. Park Road (Stenning) took Imin 17.9 s for 1100 metres, the last 600 m in 39.75. He is entered for the third race at Gisborne. Dance Hall Days (Howard), another in at Gisborne, worked with Poraiti Star (Winiata) over 800 metres on the No. 1 grass in 52.45, the last 600 m in 38.65. True Note (Gifford) was slowing towards the finish of 1000 m in Imin 3.95, the last 600 m in 39.25, while Tintz (Hall) ran her last 600 metres in 39.25. Regent’s Star (Sawyer) worked at three-quarter pace from the 1000-metre peg, quickening slightly over the last 600 in 40.35, while Keith (Sergeant) ran an easy 800 metres in 56.35, the last 600 m in 41.65.
