Special permit granted
PA Levin The Foxton Racing Club has been granted a special totalisator permit to race on February 3. The permit was issued to mark the centennial of the Foxton Borough, according to club secretary, Mr Chas Pearce. The centennial meeting will be a condensed programme of eight, or possibly nine, races. It will start at 12.45 p.m. and be completed by around 4.45 p.m. The feature or centennial event will be a class 1 sprint run over 1200metres for a stake of $12,500 and a $5OO trophy. The other feature race also for class 1 gallopers will be over 2200 metres for $lO,OOO. Trophies will be presented for all events. In addition there will be trophies for the leading trainer, jockey and apprentice jockey run on a points basis and incorporating the Foxton club’s meeting on Wednesday. Nominations for the centennial meeting close on January 26 with acceptances closing at 5 p.m. on January 30.
