Woman to chair Telethon
PA Wellington A Hunterville farmer, Vicky Duncan, has been named new Telethon Trust chairwoman by the Broadcasting Corporation chairman, Hugh Rennie. Mrs Duncan, aged 43, is a director of ANZ Bank, a Rangitikei County councillor and a former chairwoman of the Accident Compensation Corporation. She also works with a number of other charitable and community trusts and farms in partnership with her husband. Also appointed to the trust for the next five years were Wellington Mayor Jim Belich, Beverley Adlam, of Kawerau, former cricketer, Jeremy Coney, of Wellington, Judge Cecily Rushton, of Auckland, Eva Rickard, of Raglan, Dunedin’s Mayor, Sir Clifford Skeggs, and Auckland’s Mayor, Dame Catherine Tizard.
They join the existing members, Rev Manu Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, Professor Geoffrey Brinkman, of Waikanae, and Dr Ronald Elvidge, of Auckland. Their first task would be to organise Telethon 88 scheduled for June, Mr Rennie said. 1
