ORIENTEERING The Peninsula and Plains orienteers held their last event of 1987 at the Bottle Lake plantation on Sunday. Trevor Hoey, who was the top competitor of the season in the M2IA grade, was an easy winner of course 1, finishing more than 12 minutes ahead of the second placegetter. Orienteer of the year awards were presented in the various grades after Sunday’s event. Hoey won the men’s award which includes a competitor’s best four results from six nominated events. Chrissie Williams, the top woman, and Hoey, both had maximum points of 100. Kevin McGlinchy won the M4OA grade and Nicholas Tiffley the MI7A grade.
