P.S.A. negotiates 7 per cent pay rise

PA Wellington Public servants will get a 7 per cent pay increase, announced yesterday by the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger and the president of the Public Service Association, Mr Colin Hicks. The Government and P.S.A. yesterday had agreed on a package that

would apply only to the Public Service and Parliamentary service parts of the State services, said Messrs Rodger and Hicks. It would not affect negotiations in areas such as health, education, broadcasting, and Stateowned enterprises. The package included the restructuring of future

bargaining procedures, they said. Reforms involved restructuring existing occupational determinations into a departmental framework. As a first step, pay scales would be consolidated on a status quo basis and occupational identities would be retained.
