Show Gate Mile runners shine

By

DAVID MCCARTHY

Red Chiffon and Spangles, rivals in the Show Gate Stakes at Timaru today were among the best workers in separate gallops during a busy session at Riccarton on Saturday morning. All the work was on the plough and Spangles produced some of the best fractions of the session.

With Jan Kerr up she ran over 800 m with Mr Magoo (Grant Davison). They finished on terms in 48.9 s the last 600 m In 3B.es and the last 200 m in 11.25. Spangles produced better fractions at times during the spring but this was very useful work and she looks to have done well during the week. Red Chiffon (Quayle) ran 800 m with Spangle’s stablemate, Delphinium’s Blue (Davison), the pair running 50.25, home in 37.85. Red Chiffon has done well since last racing. Dancer’s Rythym and Rattle were other Show Gate runners to work. Rattle was restricted to 1000 m in 1:07 but Dancer’s Rythym (Gardiner) and Traffic

Dancer (Walters) left 800 m behind in 50s, home in 37.25, the former looking to have the edge.
