Christmas parade
Sir, — Watching the Farmers’ delighttful Christmas cavalcade on November 22, I was so very sad that the essence, the real meaning of Christmas, was left out. There were Cinderella, Micky Mouse, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc., all very well done, a very worthy effort, but where was there any reference as to what Christmas is all about? Why do we celebrate Christmas? Is it to promote trade (i.e., the flags given to the children), or is it to celebrate the birth of Christ? Is it too much to ask for at least one float to remind us all of the first Christmas? — Yours, etc., G. L. CROUCHER. November 26, 1987.
