Mr Alley sent good wishes
PA Wellington The Prime Minister, Mr Lange, sent the good wishes of the New Zealand people to Rewi Alley in China on his ninetieth birthday on Tuesday. Mr Lange, who
launched Mr Alley’s autobiography in the Beehive yesterday, said in a telegram that Mr Alley's work had done much to establish the good relations that now existed between New Zealand and China. Mr Lange said that he
vividly remembered meeting him when he visited China last year. “I was aware then that I had met someone out of the ordinary who yet retained all the qualities of a down-to-earth, caring New Zealander,” he said.
