Distribution 'worthwhile’
Groups which received money from the Community Organisation Grants Scheme had made worth while and varied use of it, said the scheme’s community worker, Ms Joy Sylvia.
A Samoan language nest had made class props, and an after school programme had made a video to show the growth
and quality of their service. Ms Sylvia said the meeting gave people an opportunity to discuss their concerns, and she believed people better understood the reasons .for the way the funds were divided. Six new representatives of the distribution com-' mittee were elected on Saturday, for a two-year
term which begins on April 1. The elected representatives are: Mrs Waikura McGregor (Maori), Mrs Kim Polata (Pacific Island, first year), Mr Keresia Aiono (Pacific Island, second year), Ms Alison Jones (unemployed), Mr Steve Apirana (youth), Mrs Leith Creamer (rural), Mrs Mere Wallace (general).
