Victoria Square
Sir,—Congratulations to the city planners, architects and other interested groups who have put forward a proposal for the preservation of the best of old Christchurch and the thoughtful planning of future property development. Before rushing on with too many changes let us pause to think about the future of our city. What wonderful assets we have in the Avon River precinct and the lovely green uncluttered squares much admired by tourists. The City Council wishes to rezone Victoria Square to allow for the building of an observation tower. I urge everyone who is concerned to put in an objection to this proposal. Saving Victoria Square is a vital step in the planning of Christchurch of the future. — Yours, etc.,
M. M. GREGOR. November 23, 1987.
