Farm inputs up in Sept, quarter
Wellington reporter Farming inputs rose by 2.1 per cent during the September quarter, according to the Government Statistician, Mr Steve Kuzmicich. This compared with quarterly rises of 2.8 per cent for the June quarter and 0.8 per cent for the March quarter. The main contributions had been rises in the price levels of store stock, animal health and breed-
ing expenses, rent for leased farm land, and sharemilking charges, he said. These had been partly offset by reduced prices for rural freight and dairy shed expenses. An annual increase of 6.5 per cent had been recorded in the year to September 30. That followed an increase of 3.7 per cent for the June year and a decrease of 1.8 per cent for the March year.
