Fine wools in demand
Strong competition for Merino and other fine wools continued at yesterday’s Christchurch wool sale. The market indicator rose 4c from the combined all North Island and Timaru-Invercargill sale on Thursday to 593 c clean a kilogram. The offering of 2013 clean tonnes (17,056 bales) comprised 35 per cent Halfbred fleece, 20 per cent Merino fleece, 10 per cent crossbred fleece, 8 per cent crossbred second-shear with the balance being skirtings and oddments. The Wool Board’s report on prices for clean wool of the following descriptions is based on yesterday’s sale at Christchurch.
