Men wanted at “Woman on the move Show’
Men as well as women are encouraged to attend this year’s “Women on the Move Show” at the Christchurch Town Hall at the
end of the month. “I would encourage men to come and see how the other side ticks,” said the organiser, Ms Rhonda Campbell. “Men need to be educated about how women are doing things; to see that things are changing and that women are not just sitting at home having babies.” Fashion parades and seminars on a variety of topics are expected to be big draw-card for this year’s three-day show, which will begin on October 30; A continuous parade of high fashion by Christchurch designers, as well as designs for teenagers and larger women, were planned. Colour and style coordination demonstrations, hair dressing and cosmetic displays, and body-building demon-
strations were also expected to be popular. Seminar topics included a talk by a Christchurch woman funeral director on coping with grief, financial services, women in real estate, and getting motivated. Lectures by the Transcendental Meditation Group include a talk and demonstration of Indian rejuvenation techniques through massages. The exposition had attracted more than 80 exhibiters, said Ms Campbell. The show would cost $5 to enter, but those attending would be presented with a flower on arrival and a catalogue of the various, stands. ? it Exhibits would fill most rooms at the Town Hall including the Cambridge, Limes and Canterbury rooms and the James Hay Theatre, but excluding the main auditorium.
