• A man suffered moderate to serious injuries when his car went over a bank at Awapuni Hill, near Waikari, yesterday afternoon. The accident happened just before 3.30 p.m. The victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital by the Amuri ambulance. His name and condition were not available last evening. • The occupants of a Fendalton house disturbed a burglar stacking stolen property on a bed last week. The occupants of the Puriri Street property had only been away 15 minutes. The police believe the burglars entered through an upstairs bedroom window and had placed a colour television and cassette unit on the bed for later removal when they were disturbed, about 7.50 p.m. on Thursday.
• Electrical appliances were stolen in a week-end burglary of the Hornby branch of Zip Trading, in Chappie Place. A side door was forced to gain entry between 5 p.m. last Friday and 6.25 p.m. last
' . “I t ’ -.• : ■ Sunday. The burglars made off with four Zip frypans, eight Breville Friers, two Zip automatic kettles and nine Daltron automatic toasters. The goods were valued about, $l5OO. ’ • The police are looking for a $2OOO parachute stolen from a car at Burnham Military Camp. The parachute, which was owned privately, is "Ramair” brand and is blue. The reserve chute is, white. • Thieves forced their way into a Hornby car wrecker’s yard last Sunday night and stole property valued about $5OOO. The offenders used boltcutters to force a padlock and enter Autorama Truck and Car Parts, Halswell Junction Road, between 4 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. yesterday. They stole a trolley jack, trailer lights, socket sets, tools, a reconditioned Morris 1100 motor and gearbox, a Hillman Hunter motor, battery charger, tyres, manifolds, carburettors, brake lights and mag wheels.
• Ayoutn was robbed of his wallet and watch in Victoria Square last Fri- & evening, but the. ofersreturned to band 7 back his watch. The , youth, agedl6,wasstanding in the Square about 9 ; p.m. when approached by three youths. He was assaulted before the items were taken. • Power tools, calculators and computer disks . were stolen in a burglary of Odlins, Ltd, in Princess Street, Riccarton, last week-end. The burglary was between 6 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. The offenders used a ladder to get on to the roof. They walked along the top of the building about 80m before climbing in through a toilet window. The burglars made off with five circular saws, a power drill, grinder, calculators, pens, pencils and two boxes of floppy disks, valued in total at more than $4OOO. Senior-Sergeant Dave Sandes, of Hornby, said the tools were Hitachi, Makita and AEG brands.
