Sampson family.— Jocelyn Fisher (20 Cumming Street, Okato) seeks information to help compile a history of the Sampson family. Charles and Mary (nee Gollop) Sampson left Plymouth in October, 1841, and arrived in New Plymouth in Febrtary, 1842, on the ship Timandra. They settled in the New Plymouth area and their children subsequently settled in the Waitara and other Taranaki areas. Other early Taranaki settler families who were associated with the first genera-.
tion of the Sampson family were Hoskin, Clare, Allen, Trimm, Smaller, Rattenbury, Gilbert and Looney. Morrison family.— lan F. Morrison (131) E. Windsor Road, North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V7N IJ9) is compiling a family history. A major gap in his research concerns a greatuncle, Henry Morrison, of Alloa, Scotland, who went to New Zealand about 1900. He was born in 1876, the youngest son of John and Elizabeth
(Bauchop) Morrison, of Alloa, and was believed to be still alive in 1954. McLachlan. — Mrs Margaret M. King (nee Sharkey) is undertaking family research and wishes to trace a cousin, Joe McLachlan, once of Slade Lane, Manchester, England. Mr McLachlan was associated with the building trade when he moved to New Zealand more than 30 years ago. Mrs King’s address: 13 Lowick, Woodthorpe, York YO22RF, England.
