Roaming Jewel wins easily
The Christchurch owned and trained bitch Roaming Jewel, comfortably repulsed the challenge of her five rivals in the class one Plumbing World Stakes, at the Timaru Greyhound Racing Club’s meeting at St Andrews on Sunday.
The Malcolm Grant-trained brindle exploded out of the boxes to lead into the first bend, but was soon headed by Spanish Affair on entering the back straight However, Roaming Jewel was able to drive through a gap on the rails turning for home and held a length advantage over Spanish Affair at the line. The daughter of Roaming Ron-Keen Lynette recorded 28.93 s for the 470 m. Roaming Angel, a full sister to the feature winner, provided Malcolm Grant with his second winner of the day
when she scorched over the 470 m in 28.38 s in the class two event
The Ray Adcock-trained class four sprinter Matinee Miss returned to form with a narrow win. The race proved to be an exciting contest with both Tiny Wadderin and Aqua Girl push Matinee Miss hard right to the line. The Australian-bred bitch. recorded 16.55 s for the 275 m.

470 m; 28.88 s), Black Moon (CO; 275; 16.65), Shadow Demon (Cl; 275 m; 16.575), Kotahi Prince (C2 and C 3; 275 m; 16.565).
